Our vision is to deliver on the national agenda, which is first and foremost about developing and empowering Qatari entrepreneurs and innovators to contribute to the vibrancy and diversification of Qatari economy. Our ultimate objective is to enable successful Qatari SMEs that are capable to compete in global markets.
Geographical Jurisdiction
QatarQDB’s interest in innovation in financial services can be summarized as follows:
- National FinTech Strategy: Since 2017, QDB has been entrusted by Qatar Central Bank (QCB) to drive the national efforts relating to the fintech. CEO of QDB has been appointed as the Chairman of Qatar FinTech Task Force (QFTF), which includes representation from QCB, QDB and relevant government ministries as well as local banks and insurance companies. In order to develop a holistic approach, QFTF had developed the National FinTech Strategy, which is contingent upon the following enablers:
a) Regulations
b) Talent
c) Finance
d) Access to business
Our objective to join the GFIN as “observer” is to stay up to date with recent global trends and support QCB’s ongoing project to develop the fintech-friendly regulations and launch a “sandbox”. Once fintech regulations are adopted, we will encourage QCB to join GFIN as a full member.
2.Adopter of innovation: Our corporate strategy prioritized adoption of innovation within our bank’s operations, products and services. As such, our interest in fintech is not limited to promoting it among key FS ecosystem players, but also adopting it within out bank.
